A 65-year-old repeat offender and three others were arrested for allegedly kidnapping a newborn baby from the Ballari Institute of Medical Sciences (BIMS) and selling it for Rs 1.5 lakh, the police in Karnataka said on Sunday.
According to the police, the incident took place on September 12, when Sridevi from Benakal village, who had delivered a baby boy in the hospital in July, returned for a postnatal check-up and to collect the birth certificate.
