The trailer of the film Soulmates, directed by P.V. Shankar and featuring music by Nadabrahma Hamsalekha, was launched recently at Utsav Legacy in Bengaluru. The film carries the tagline “Parisarapremi” (Environment Lover). It has already attracted attention with songs like “Kila Kila..” and its teaser. Soulmates is produced by G.R. Archana and Shankar P.V.
The cast includes Srijit Surya (of Rang Be Rang fame), Prasanna Shetty (of Nimma Vastu Galige Neeve Javabdaara fame), Rajani, Yashvika Nishkala, Almas, Yash Shetty, Aravind Rao, Sharath Lohitashwa, Aruna Balaraj, Prashanth Natan, Arasu Maharaj, Gautham, Tarak, and Naveen D. Padil. The film is scheduled to release across Karnataka on September 19.

Speaking at the event, director Shankar said “This film combines romance, action, and thriller elements along with a message on environmental concern. When I was young, I once cut a tree to make a cricket bat, and I always felt regret for that. That incident inspired the story of this film. We have also included visuals of a song from the film Kotigobba starring Dr. Vishnuvardhan, with permission from its producers. I believe our film has his blessings. The story revolves around a boy and girl who work to protect the environment, which is very relevant to today’s society.”
Actor Yash Shetty, who plays a supari killer, said “This is like a jungle-mangle kind of film. My role is not just a regular villain character, since the climax of the film unfolds through the villain.” Lead actor Srijit Surya said “I play a character named Satya. True to his name, he is truthful and also a strong environmentalist. For him, both the environment and his girl are his soulmates.” Lead actress Yashvika Nishkala said “I have played the role of Bhoomi, a soft-hearted girl. The film has come out beautifully, and I seek the audience’s support.” Prasanna Shetty, who comes from a theatre background, plays Gopi, a naive village youth.
Soulmates will release this Friday, September 19.
