The accused, identified as 37-year-old Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, allegedly attacked Nagamallaiah with a knife following a heated dispute over a broken washing machine at the motel. Reports suggest that Nagamallaiah had asked a female staff member to inform Cobos-Martinez not to use the damaged machine, which angered the accused as the message was not conveyed directly to him.
In a fit of rage, Cobos-Martinez first stabbed Nagamallaiah and chased him as he ran towards the room where his wife and son were present. Despite desperate attempts by Nagamallaiah’s wife to stop the attack, the accused overpowered her, beheading the victim in front of his terrified family.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene, but the accused fled before police arrived. He was later apprehended and confessed to the crime. Reports confirm that Cobos-Martinez has a criminal history, including previous arrests for vehicle theft in Florida and assault charges in Houston.
