The report, Karnataka Mid-Market GCC Report 2025: Lean, Local, and Globally Impactful, reveals that of the 480-plus mid-market GCCs in India, more than 230 are based in Karnataka. These centres, typically set up by enterprises with annual revenues between $100 million and $1 billion, are expanding at a faster pace than their larger counterparts and are adopting advanced roles in product ownership, executive leadership, and AI-led strategies.
Karnataka introduced a dedicated GCC policy in 2024
Supportive policies, streamlined regulations, and infrastructure advantages have enabled these organisations to scale quickly within the State. Karnataka was the first to introduce a dedicated Global Capability Centre (GCC) policy in 2024, which has further accelerated growth. Since 2023, nearly 65% of all new mid-market GCCs established in India have chosen Karnataka as their base.
The report notes that these entities operate with leaner teams, driving higher productivity and lowering costs compared to larger centres. In Karnataka, mid-market GCCs function at roughly 35% of the size of their larger peers, underscoring the strength of the local talent ecosystem. With Bengaluru ranking as the world’s fourth-largest technology and innovation hub, the State continues to attract a significant share of India’s AI, machine learning, and digital workforce.
