Hollywood action director JJ Perry, known for his work in John Wick, Fast & Furious, and Day Shift, is currently spearheading a 45-day action shoot for Yash’s upcoming film Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-ups. The schedule is taking place in Mumbai during the peak monsoon, with the makers embracing the challenging conditions to execute one of the most ambitious action sequences attempted in Indian cinema.
Unlike earlier portions of the film, where Perry collaborated with international stunt professionals, the current schedule features an entirely Indian stunt team. After working closely with them, Perry decided to entrust the high-intensity sequence to local talent. “This Indian crew is world-class. That’s precisely why I chose to work with them,” Perry said, adding that the team is rising to the challenge of mounting a large-scale action set piece.

The sequence has been in planning for months, involving detailed storyboarding, previs, rehearsals, and creative discussions. It is being executed through a collaboration between Perry, lead actor and producer Yash, director Geetu Mohandas, visual effects partner DNEG, and producer Venkat K. Narayana. The partnership between Yash and Narayana has been central to assembling the resources and budget required to support the film’s scale.
Perry, who has worked in 39 countries during his career, described the project as a highlight, praising the vision of Geetu Mohandas and the efforts of cinematographer Rajeev Ravi, the production designer, and the art department.

Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-ups is being shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, with additional dubbed versions in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam. This bilingual approach aims to retain cultural authenticity while reaching audiences across India and globally.
Jointly produced by Venkat K. Narayana under KVN Productions and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, the film is scheduled for worldwide theatrical release on March 19, 2026.
