Anticipating a significant increase in passenger activity following the extended Independence Day weekend, Bengaluru Metro will start services on the newly inaugurated Yellow Line at 5 am on Monday.
Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) Sunday announced that the first trains will depart from both the terminal stations – RV Road and Bommasandra – at 5 am on Monday.
The BMRCL, however, added that the special arrangement was only for this Monday, and services will start at the normal schedule of 6.30 am from Tuesday onwards.
As previously announced, services on the Purple Line and the Green Line will follow the regular early schedule for Monday and start at 4.15 am.
The Yellow Line currently operates trains at a frequency of 25 minutes. The gap has led to a surge of passengers, especially at the R V Road station, which also services the North-South corridor connecting Madavara and Silk Institute.
On August 11, a day after the inauguration of the Yellow Line, the BMRCL hit a record ridership of 10.48 lakh.
