Actor Darshan Thoogudeepa has been sent back to jail after the Supreme Court of India cancelled his bail in the Renukaswamy murder case. The court said “no one is above the law” and called the earlier bail given by the Karnataka High Court wrong, saying it had no strong or special reasons to allow it.
The bench of Justices JB Pardiwala and R Mahadevan said the case involves serious charges under Sections 302 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code. They also pointed out that there are strong claims, backed by forensic and other evidence, that Darshan and his associates tried to influence witnesses. The judges warned that this could affect the fairness of the trial.
The Supreme Court also gave a strict warning to prison officials not to give Darshan any kind of “VIP” treatment. They said if he is treated like a celebrity inside jail, the jail superintendent will face action.
Soon after the order, police arrested Darshan and co-accused Pavithra Gowda in Bengaluru. Both were taken to court and are expected to be sent to Ballari Central Prison, where Darshan had been kept earlier before getting bail.
This latest development marks a major setback for the star and a significant moment in a case that continues to command public attention.
