A new team has come forward with a fresh attempt in Kannada cinema through the film Sarangi, which features only two characters. Details about the film were shared by the team during a press conference.
The story revolves around the idea that in daily life, people wear different masks before others, but when faced with an unexpected situation, do they hold on to their values, and how do they overcome it? The film, directed and written by J. Achar, is described as a mystic thriller. The two roles in the film are played by Karthik Chander and Shwetha Arakere.
Karthik Chander, who is also the executive producer, said he is originally a theatre artiste, having run a theatre in the U.S., and is now based in Bengaluru. He added that Sarangi is the name of a hill and the film depicts events happening around it. Produced by Tejesh, the film is ready for release, with its premiere planned in the U.S. in August and the Karnataka release scheduled for October.
Actress Shwetha Arakere said she hails from Mangaluru, is a theatre artiste and Bharatanatyam dancer, and that both the story and her role in the film appealed to her.
Producer Tejesh said he is from Bengaluru and works as an entrepreneur. He liked the story narrated by the director and decided to produce the film.
Cinematographer Navi Nanjappa, sound designer Sam Kapper, associate director Dushyant Rai, and associate cinematographer Prashanth were also present at the press conference.
