The first lyrical video from the debut film ‘Soulmates’ Kannada film, directed by P.V. Shankar, has officially been released. The film features music composed by the legendary Nada Brahma Hamsalekha, who is not only scoring the tunes but has also penned the lyrics for the playful track “Kilakila.” The song is beautifully rendered by Aniruddha Shastry and Ankita Kundu.
With the tagline “Soulmates – Nature Lovers”, the film stars two lead male and two lead female characters. The cast includes ‘Rang Bi Rang’ fame Sreejith Surya, ‘Nimma Vasthugalege Neve Javabdhararu’ fame Prasanna Shetty, Yashvika Nishkal, Rajani, Almas, Yash Shetty, Sharath Lohitashwa, Aravind Rao, Aruna Balaraj, Arasu Maharaj, Prashanth Natt, Gautham, Tarak, and Naveen D Padil.
The film is jointly produced by G.R. Archana and director P.V. Shankar himself. Karnataka Film Chamber President Narasimhulu and said “No one should suffer financial losses while making a film. I support everyone who contributes to cinema. Kannada cinema must grow, and Kannada must thrive.”

Producer Shilpa Srinivas said “With the beautiful message – ‘Plant a tree every year, watch a Kannada film every week’ – I hope Soulmates becomes a great success and joins the list of quality Kannada films being made today.”
Director P.V. Shankar emotionally reflected on his journey: “I’ve been crazy about cinema since childhood. The first movie I ever saw was ‘Putnanja’, and that’s where my connection with Hamsalekha began. I’ve always wanted him to be part of my first film. He has composed five songs for us. This movie tells the story of a boy and girl who are passionate about protecting the environment — a theme that is much needed in today’s society. Soulmates is a family entertainer titled aptly to reflect the bond between the hero, the heroine, and nature.”
Lead actor Sreejith Shetty said: “I play the role of Satya – a character true to his name and a strong lover of nature. In this film, both the environment and his partner are his soulmates. The title Soulmates fits the storyline perfectly.”
Actress Nishkal Shetty, who plays the role of Bhoomi, said Bhoomi is a soft-hearted girl, and every song sequence in this film is memorable for me. Working with Hamsalekha sir was a dream come true she pointed.
Actor Prasanna Shetty, who plays the innocent village boy Gopi, said “This is my second film this year and my first with P.V. Shankar. Before taking up the role, I asked him a question, and his confident response — ‘I believe in myself’ — was inspiring. He’s a great person and pays attention to every detail. He deserves full support from everyone.”
‘Soulmates’ is expected to hit theaters in September, and with its strong message on environmental protection, soulful music, and family-friendly narrative, the film aims to strike a deep emotional chord with Kannada audiences.
