In a bid to win back subscribers and boost its market presence, state-run telecom operator BSNL has announced an aggressive new offer ahead of Independence Day. Under the limited-time ‘Freedom Offer’, new users can enjoy 28 days of telecom benefits for just Rs 1.
This plan includes unlimited voice calls, 2GB high-speed data per day, and 100 free SMS daily, all for just Rs 1. The offer is seen as a strategic move amid rising subscriber losses. According to a recent TRAI report, BSNL has been witnessing a drop in its user base as customers port out to private telecom players. The company hopes this aggressive pricing will attract new customers, especially in rural and budget-conscious segments.
Meanwhile, Airtel has also launched a Rs 399 plan offering 28 days of validity with 2.5GB daily data, 100 SMS/day, unlimited calls, and a free JioHotstar subscription, appealing to OTT users.
