Six gelatin sticks and a few detonators were found inside a bag that was left unattended at a bus stand located in the heart of Bengaluru city on Wednesday, the police said.
The explosives were found at the Kalasipalya Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus stand, which is frequented by thousands of commuters every day.
According to the police, on Wednesday afternoon, they received a call about an unattended bag outside a toilet at the BMTC bus stand. Upon arriving at the spot, the police informed the bomb disposal squad and found the explosives.
“Six gelatin sticks and some detonators were found in a carry bag outside the toilet inside Kalasipalya BMTC bus stand. We are yet to register an FIR and will reveal the details later,” S Girish, Deputy Commissioner of Police (West), said.
The bus stand has been cordoned off.
Last year, on March 17, the police had discovered explosives, including gelatin sticks and detonators, in a tractor parked outside a school in Bellandur in Bengaluru. This was a few days after the Rameshwaram Cafe blast in the city.
