Five ministers, 67 members of the Assembly, and 28 members of the Legislative Council have failed to submit a statement of their assets and liabilities for the year 2024-25 to the Karnataka Lokayukta as required under Section 22 (1) of the Karnataka Lokayukta Act, 1984.
The deadline for filing the details was June 30, 2025.
The failure of elected representatives to furnish details of their assets and liabilities can result in the Lokayukta submitting a report to the Karnataka Assembly against them.
Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Minister K H Muniyappa, Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, Housing and Minorities Welfare Minister B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan, Hajj and Municipal Administration Minister Rahim Khan, and Animal Husbandry Minister K Venkatesh are among those who have not filed their assets and liabilities within the prescribed time limit, the Karnataka Lokayukta has stated.
The majority of the 66 MLAs who have not declared their assets and liabilities are from the Congress party.
Among the MLAs who have not declared their assets are the chief minister’s financial advisor, Basavaraj Rayareddy, and the former BJP minister and accused of illegal mining, G Janardhan Reddy.
Former minister for co-operation K N Rajanna, who resigned earlier this year, has also defaulted on filing details of his assets with the Lokayukta.
Planning and Statistics Minister D. Sudhakar, along with two MLAs and one MLC, filed their assets and liabilities after the June 30 deadline.
