The Bengaluru City Police have arrested four people in connection with a robbery reported last month in which the accused threatened a Vijayanagar resident at gunpoint within the limits of the Peenya police station.
Officers have recovered a pistol, five mobile phones and the car used for the crime, with the seized property valued at Rs 4 lakh. All four accused were produced before court and remanded in judicial custody.
According to a statement issued by the police on Wednesday, the incident in question took place on the night of August 14, following which the First Information Report (FIR) was lodged on August 18.
The complainant in the case was waiting at Jalahalli Bus Stand to head towards his residence when three men in a car offered him a ride. As soon as the man got into the car, the accused diverted the vehicle towards Dabaspete in Bengaluru Rural district.
The police said the victim was stopped from raising an alarm as the three accused threatened him with a gun. They then stole two mobile phones worth Rs 75,000 and cash of Rs 5,000 from him, after which they let him go.
The Peenya police registered an FIR and three people involved in the crime were nabbed by officers on August 25 at Doddanekundi, near Marathahalli in the city. The accused confessed to the crime on being questioned.
“Further investigation revealed that the pistol had been supplied by another individual who had previously been in jail with the accused. Acting on this lead, the police arrested the fourth suspect on September 10, 2025, from Horti village in Bijapur (Vijayapura) district,” the release stated.
