The deceased were identified as J Shiva, 32, and Madhusudhan Reddy, 58. The incident took place at Venkatala around 4 pm Monday, following heavy rain.
According to the FIR filed at the Yelahanka police station, Madhusudhan and Reddy were digging the land, likely for a foundation. They were also installing rainwater model blocks. The mud collapsed on them, trapping them inside. Other labourers, with the help of an earth mover, removed the mud and took Madhusudhan and Reddy to a hospital. Reddy had died by then, and Madhusudhan also passed away later.
Jogi Saraswati, wife of Madhusudhan, filed a police complaint alleging a lack of safety measures and negligence on the part of the construction company, which led to the tragedy. The police registered the case under Section 106 (causing death by negligence) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
In addition to Embassy Group, staff members from Associated Projects Infra, a civil construction services provider; Retas Enviro Solutions Private Limited; and VNS have been booked.
