Chennai, 21st August 2025: NAREDCO Tamil Nadu hosted a curtain raiser event in Chennai to mark its participation in the upcoming 17th NAREDCO National Convention 2025, scheduled for 29–30 August in New Delhi.
Against the backdrop of rapid urbanisation and increasing infrastructure demand driven by tourism, the state faces the challenge of balancing modern expansion with environmental and cultural heritage preservation. The curtain raiser discussed these issues while highlighting infrastructure progress in Chennai, Coimbatore, and emerging southern corridors.
Shri Gnanasehar Devadason, President, NAREDCO Tamil Nadu, stated:
“Tamil Nadu continues to be one of the most progressive real estate markets in the country, with Chennai, Coimbatore, and emerging corridors showing strong potential for both residential and commercial development. Through this platform, we aim to accelerate approvals, encourage affordable housing, and support infrastructure-led growth to strengthen Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities as future investment destinations.”
The discussions included strategies for rental housing, disaster-resilient construction, and sustainable materials—priorities for the state’s expanding urban regions.
Dr Niranjan Hiranandani, Chairman, NAREDCO, remarked:
“Urban planning is now central to India’s economic strategy. With construction contributing significantly to carbon emissions, the sector must shift from conventional methods to smart, sustainable models. This means adopting green materials, prioritising energy efficiency, and integrating smart infrastructure.”
Shri G Hari Babu, President, NAREDCO, emphasised that the convention would act as a policy accelerator:
“We’re at a tipping point where growth, regulation, and innovation must align. The sector’s ability to attract global capital, improve last-mile delivery, and serve end-users depends on quickly resolving issues such as delays in approvals, inadequate rental frameworks, and high construction costs.”
The Union Minister of Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Manohar Lal, will attend as Chief Guest, signalling strong central government support for the event, widely recognised as the sector’s most influential public-private policy forum.
