Bengaluru witnessed yet another tragic accident involving a Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) bus on Wednesday morning, claiming the life of a 10-year-old schoolgirl.
The incident occurred around 8:45 am near Marutinagar, close to Kogilu Cross. A mother was riding her two-wheeler with her two daughters on board, on the way to drop them to school. According to police, the scooter skidded when another two-wheeler approached from the left. In the impact, the elder daughter fell onto the road and was caught under a BMTC bus bearing registration number KA-57 F-5375.

Eyewitnesses said the child screamed as she came under the vehicle, and her mother shouted frantically for the driver to stop. However, the bus allegedly moved forward, running over the girl’s head. The child died on the spot at the scene.
Locals rushed to the spot and flagged down the bus, which halted nearly 200 meters away. The mother, who witnessed the horrifying accident, was inconsolable.
The Yelahanka Traffic Police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Officials confirmed that the driver has been detained for questioning.

Residents of the area have demanded stricter enforcement of traffic rules and accountability from the transport corporation to prevent such tragedies in the future.
